Guest Post: Miss Couture 17

I wanted to introduce some of my other favourite blogs with you all lately so today my first guest blogger is here! A gorgeous friend named Kelsey from Miss Couture 17 agreed to do a guest post for you all today on the best beauty products from the past year. Hope you all will love her blog as much as I do!

Hey Everyone!

I'm Kelsey from over at Misscouture17, a blog focused on all things beauty related.  I was recently asked by the lovely Lacey to write a guest post for her blog.  Due to the fact that we saw the end of 2011 a few days ago and so many amazing products made their debut last year and I discovered some personal favourites, I thought, what better than a 'best beauty products of 2011' post? So, let's get started!

My first beauty favourite is the well-known Naked palette from Urban Decay.  True, this product came out in 2010 and also true that the Naked 2 has recently been released, but i feel like the original Naked palette was where it was at in 2011.  Anyone who wore makeup had it, and others who couldn't get their hands on it coveted it. This was a personal favourite of mine in 2011 because it comes with 12 full size neutral eye shadows, including mattes and shimmers suitable to create any neutral look you could want, from a beautiful subtle wash of colour over the lid to a dramatic smokey eye.
Next up, the Covergirl NatureLuxe Silk foundation.  Honestly, I personally have never been able to wear drug store foundations, the ones I've tried just don't work for me, that is, they didn't work for me until this little baby came along.  No matter how many high end foundations I try, I always go back to this one.  It provides a light to medium coverage, blends beautifully, feels lightweight and looks great!  I've recommended this product to many people and they've all been pleased with the results!

The Tarte Amazonian Clay blushes, which I own in both Dollface and Exposed.  I discovered these during the Summer time and fell in love with them. These blushes come in a wide range of beautiful shades, apply wonderfully, stay true to colour, and last a long time on your cheeks. Some blushes have a tendency to fade throughout the day, but I haven't had a problem with these blushes.
Arbonne Sheer Glow Highlighter was a product I discovered at the beginning of 2011 and have been using ever since. This highlighter adds a soft glow to the complexion and is suitable for all skin tones.  What I love about this product is that it has no shimmer and provides no colour. Now, for $46 CND per tube you might think 'no colour, no shimmer? not worth it, however; it gives your skin a natural looking glow, which is perfect for every day.
Dior Dior Addict lipstick has also made it onto Misscouture17's best beauty products of 2011 list! I fell in love with these lipsticks the moment they launched.  Whether it was the lovely packaging, overwhelming shade selection, or the fact that Kate Moss was the face of Dior Addict, one thing was for sure, and that is that the Dior Addict lipsticks were my favourite lip product of 2011. They're kind of like a lipstick/lip gloss hybrid as the majority of them are pretty pigmented, and all of them are moisturizing and leave a glossy finish on the lips. *Fun Fact! I actually named my blog after two of the Dior addict lipsticks!*
My favourite perfume launch of 2011 was definitely that of Vera Wang's Lovestruck.  Lovestruck has top notes of pink guava and angelica flower, a mid note of tuberose, and a base of precious woods and sheer musk.  To me, it smells like a more sophisticated, sexier version of Princess.  I purchased this in September, which I know wasn't all that long ago, but Lovestruck quickly climbed its way to the top of my favourite perfumes list for Fall and Winter.
If you want more detailed descriptions, I've reviewed and swatched many of the products mentioned in this post on my blog, so be sure to check those out by clicking here.

  1. I really want to try Lovestruck! I got Princess for Christmas but my local department stores don't seem to have Lovestruck in!

And I was definitely one the people coveting the Naked palette last year!
