Dress to Impress

If your schedule looks anything like mine than you must be preparing for lots of upcoming spring weddings, parties, graduations, and proms. I picked a few of my top favourite dress for spring occasions and love all the pretty colours that can be worn. The top row is more for weddings or cocktail parties whereas the middle row is more for everyday occasions and more casual get together. The Last row is for the black tie events or proms and include quite a heftier price tag but I couldn't resist sticking in these beauties.

Springtime Brights

  1. Zara- $59.90
  2. Forever 21-$35.90 (many different colour options)
  3. J.Crew- $298
  4. J.Crew- $172
  5. H&M-$14.95
Lately the more it becomes spring the more excited I am for the upcoming spring shopping and trends. Two trends that have caught my eye were bright coloured jeans for the second year in a row, that really stand out and are so fun to create different combo's with. The new one I want to try are floral or  unique prints on pants that draw attention and a laid back feel while still looking stylish. What spring trends do you want to try?

Here in Canada it is about to become really cold! I currently have been wearing my leather jacket everyday but am now on the hunt for the perfect winter jacket. There are so many cute choices and so I have narrowed it down to a few of my favourites and want to know which ones you like best? Keep your fingers crossed that the fall wind will stay a little longer instead of the winter snow!

OOTD:Setting Sun

All photo's for Simply Lacey

Even though my favourite time to wear white is in the summer, I hope to continue wearing it in the fall with shirts like this one that has an amazing zipper in the back. I am so thankful that my open toed shoes are able to stay out a little while later but am sad to say that this is probably one of the last summery outfits you will see this year as it is supposed to become cold this next week. The sunsets here latley have been beautiful and turn the sky a pretty pink!

Falling for You

Fall weather is out in full force where I live and I couldn't be happier! Fall weather is my favourite, its crisp, windy and cool. I wanted to share I few things i'm currently coveting for fall 2011...

Fur and vests seem to be having a major comeback this season, so I thought why not wear them together!
Also there is a little inspiration on how to wear it

Really pretty necklace to add some sparkle to my outftits this fall

My all time favourite fall accessory, the scarf!

A soft wrap dress for any fall parties in a neutral colour to go with anything

A new leather tote for the fall would be nice, especially one in this box style which also incorporates the summer trend of colour-blocking

A deep red polish reminds me of the fall leaves and looks good with every skin tone

These booties are too cute to pass up, they have a great wedge and cute buckle accents

Do you have any fall favourites?

I enjoyed a wonderful BBQ dinner this past friday and wanted to share some pictures of what I wore for the day. I wanted to keep it as comfortable as possiable and ended up with the all american staples with a white t-shirt and a good pair of my favourite old blue jeans. I also was a good oppurtunity to break in my new shoes and even though they are tall they are now very comfortable and I feel as if I could run a marathon in them. Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend!

What a Night...

All pictures taken by me

So on Thursday night I attended a wonderful event called rack to rack. It was an amazing evening and the beautiful stylist Rachel Matthews Burton was so sweet and full of great tips and advice. I was fortunate enough to have won a ticket to this event from the beautiful Kelly from her blog It's D'or and I can't thank her enough for such an amazing oppurtunity. The evening was spent in a comfy and well designed room filled with great clothing, food and drinks. I'm going to fill you in on what I learned that night. So some fall trends to look for is colour, any darker more fall colour such as a plum purple, royal blues, reds, mustard and coral are great for any fall piece. Another thing to look for is luxurious textures such as snake skin, furs, lace, and leather which can bring a fun new element to your fall wardrobe. You can totally change an outfits apperance by how you style it, if you do it right you shouldn't have to buy expensive pieces for an outfit to look expensive. Also if your going to add a statement piece to your outfit, limit it to one because you don't want your outfit to look to busy and you want one main focal point. The 50's and 70's will make a bigger apperence this season with different prints and textures such as polka dots, flared jeans, pencil skirts, bow-tie blouses and oxford shoes. While having print on your clothing is great watch the scale as it needs to be equal to your body size. If you add bulk to your top you want you bottoms to be tight fitting and vise-versa.That is a quick summary of all the amazing tips and trick I learned and I thoroughly enjoyed the evening. I hope to attend the next funshop and hope to see any followers there.

Just a quick peek at what I wore to the funshop!

Fall'in love

Picture via. Teen Vogue

It's that time of year again where everyone starts to prepare for back to school. Although I always look forward to going back to school I am sad to see the summer go but I now know that I have fall fashion to look forward to. Dressing for the first day of school was always a stressful but fun task, unfortunately I currently wear a uniform to school so I no longer have to worry about that. I thought I would share some iteams I would love to have for back to school and hopefully you can find something you like to.

A Simple button down, especially blue ones, are my favourite thing to throw on for a simple and effortless look.

A brightly coloured blazer is perfect to layer on top of a simple t-shirt and my favourite way to add colour to an otherwise basic outfit.

Oxford shoes are a cute and quirky addition to an outfit. Not only are they cute but they are also very comfy and will keep your feet happy throughout the day!

A stripped shirt is the best for any cool fall day, as it goes with everything from jeans to a print skirt and will be cozy and yet still breezy

A dress like this is a basic for a fall wardrobe as it still goes well with flats and sandals for summer but still works well with tights and a cardigan for colder weather.

Pleated skirts are a fun way to make your outfit unique and fun so you can stand out but still be classy, especially if you buy it in a bright colour plus it will go well with flats, heels, or sandals!

What are you planning on wearing on your first day back?
